Grand Ole Opry announcer Eddie Stubbs once called Mike Webb "A great diciple of Brother Oswalds school of music". Mike learned to play the old time Clawhammer Banjo and Mountain style Dobro from long time Roy Acuff band member(Pete Kirby) Bashful Brother Oswald. The sound and tone Mike brings from the instrument that spent fifty plus years backing the king of country music Roy Acuff takes one back in time. Its as pure as a mountain stream.Mike grew up in rual Tennessee and listened to the Grand Ole Opry as a child. It was the sounds of Roy Acuff and his Smokey Mountain Boys that stuck with him.Mikes show consist of country comedy with beautiful renditions of Acuff classic as well as songs written by Mike. When not working with Charlie Collins ,Mike performs with his Smokey Moutnain Stringband. He has recorded with artists such as Marty Stuart ,Wilma Lee Cooper, Charlie Louvin ,Mac Wiseman and worked with Wilma Lee Cooper, Jim and Jesse, Buddy Jewell, Tanya Tucker ,Lynn Anderson , Little Jimmy Dickens and a host of others.
CHARLIE COLLINS was born in Campbell County Tennessee and grew up in nearby Coryville. He was influenced greatly by the Stanley Brothers and other early bluegrass groups.Playing fiddle, mandolin, and guitar by his early teens he rapidly became a reagular guest on Knoxville Radio and Television. After military service he joined the Blue Valley Boys and later became a member of the Pinacle Mountain Boy's.Charlie finally made the move to Nashville where he became a member of Roy Acuff's Smokey Mountain Boy's in 1966.He remained with Acuff until 1992 when Acuff died.Charlie was teamed with Brother Oswald as the Brother Oswald and Charlie team.Charlie has performed around the world from Vietnam to the White House, he also proudly served his country in Korea.Together Mike and Charlie perform all over the country as well as the Grand Ole Opry.Mike and Charlie's music has united them together with their own act. It's authentic and unique with it's presentation of old-timey fiddle , banjo , madolin, guitar and dobro are all given virtuoso performances along with vocal numbers by both men.they have appeared on the Grand Ole Opry , The Ernest Tubb Midnite Jamboree and around the country
